Questions

How do I turn a photo into a diamond painting?

Upload it and the maker shrinks it to the number of drills you chose, matches every cell to the nearest DMC drill colour and keeps the picture to the colour count you set. Each colour gets a symbol — the same way printed diamond painting canvases are marked — and the key lists its DMC number.

Square or round drills?

Square drills are 2.5 mm and sit edge to edge, so the finished picture looks like a smooth mosaic. Round drills are 2.8 mm, easier to pick up and quicker to place, with small gaps between them. The chart is the same; the finished size changes with the drill.

How many drills do I need?

The list gives the count for every colour plus 10% spare, because drills bounce, roll away and come fused in pairs. Order by the “to order” column and you will not run short on the last corner.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

Charts up to 64 drills wide are made entirely in your browser — the picture never leaves your device. Only the larger member canvases are processed on the server, which caches them briefly to speed up regeneration and never publishes them.

What does “full drill” mean?

Every cell of the canvas gets a drill, background included — the most common style, and the default here. Partial drill leaves parts of the printed canvas uncovered; to get that, erase those areas or remove the background.

Why are the colours DMC numbers?

Almost every drill supplier sells by DMC number, so a DMC key is a list you can order from anywhere. The same numbers work for embroidery floss if you ever stitch the design.

Can I print my own canvas?

Print the chart to work from, or send the PDF to a printing service that makes adhesive canvases. The symbols and key are laid out the way kit canvases are.

Is it free?

Charts up to 64 drills wide with up to 48 colours are free, with PNG export and saving. Canvases of 30 × 40 cm and larger need a member plan (up to 232 drills, 96 colours, PDF) — see plans.
